Sussex Wedding Venue: Open Day at Hollambys Sunset Barn

This is just a quick post in support of some of the really lovely people I was privileged to meet at the Doily Lovebugs networking event at the Hotel Pelirocco a few weeks ago. Hollambys Sunset Barn Weddings, located in Sussex near Groombridge village (see below for directions), is holding an open day this weekend on Saturday 31 March – a chance to check out a gorgeous rustic venue and a load of unique suppliers like Helen from Doily Days event stylists (see above) and Heather from Brighton Photo, whose pictures you see in the screen shot below. So many wedding venues obligate their customers to do things in a certain way – according to what’s best for the venue rather than according to what you really want.  Sunset Barn is different. It’s like a big rustic canvas that you can “paint” almost any way you want.  As you can see by the photos below, Andrew, the owner, is quite a relaxed chap and he doesn’t require that you use particular supppliers, caterers, chair covers or the like.  He makes the space available for you to fill however your heart desires – within reason, of course.

Wedding Photography Albums & Image DVD Cases | Sussex Wedding Photographer

A few people have asked lately about the wedding photography albums and DVD presentation cases included our packages so I thought I would do a quick post illustrating what you get.

Image DVD Cases Each image DVD case is bespoke handcrafted for you out of upcycled woolen felt by an Etsy vendor in America.  Each case features you and your partner’s names and wedding date hand-stitched on the front in your wedding colour(s);  the inner lining is chosen to match your wedding colour as well.

Wedding Photography Albums These hardcover storybook albums are made in Italy by Album Epoca.  They are similar to coffee table books in that the images are printed directly onto the thick, UV-protected, non-tearing metallic photo paper with a gloss plastic coating. The metallic photo paper provides extra luminescence to the pages and the gloss coating provides extra protection for the images and extra durability. The cover of each album is personalised with the wedding photo of your choice, and the album proof always goes to you for approval and/or changes before going to production.

Choices I’m also open to suggestions for other ways that you might like to preserve and display your memories, and if you think you’d like something other than what you see here I am happy to try to source whatever strikes your fancy.

Altared Magazine: Free wedding mag for nontraditional couples

Check out this very cool online alternative wedding magazine (and, you know, our fancy full page ad in it).  I love the pictures of the models from the Alternative Wedding Fair dancing outside in Piccadilly Circus.

ShutterRock UK – West Sussex Shootup

Last weekend, I loaded up the baby and the gear and headed out to Littlehampton, home of the photogenic & curvy longest bench in the world, with lots of like-minded photographers for networking and shooting practice. Many thanks go to Laura Ellen Brennan & Emma Thwaites of Photo Schmoto for having organized the day. I realized pretty quickly that when bringing the baby to a shoot, it’s better to keep the amount of gear down to a minimum though. Next time…

Casting: Couples for a Retro Styled Shoot

We’ve got the camper vans, the props, the costumes, the photographers and the lights and now we just need you!

PhotoMadly is getting together with Brighton Photo, Lakey Porter Furniture, AV Campers, Doily Days Vintage Wedding Planners & stylist Kate Muncaster to create a fabulous retro-styled shoot on a beautiful farm in Arundel, and we are looking for two lucky couples to come and model for us. (Yep, those are the actual vans on the actual farm in the pic above.)  Models will receive their choice of their 20 favorite images from the shoot.

If you are interested in joining us and are available to spend a super fun day in Arundel on Monday, August 15, all you have to do is leave a comment below with a few sentences about why you think you’d be perfect for the shoot.  Comments must be posted by August 8 and we’ll get in touch with the winners with the best answers by August 9. Brighton Wedding Photography: Christine & Ryan

Christine & Ryan were married in a private ceremony last year with just the two of them and a couple of witnesses. They knew Christine was off to England for work and that because of his own work, Ryan wouldn’t be able to join her for the next few months after that. They didn’t have a chance to do much photography at their actual wedding ceremony, but they joined me in the studio last month to have some fun making up for that. A non-traditional, non-froofy couple, we got some shots of them re-enacting a sort of 1980s prom date.
