I had a an amazing time photographing Robb & Jess’s wedding at Seattle’s Cedarbrook Lodge. Robb is one of my oldest and closest friends from my days of living in Santa Barbara & LA, and I had the privilege of meeting and getting to know Jess when we both lived in Santa Barbara as well. These two clearly make each other wildly happy, and it was quite an emotional day for me to see them get married. I can’t even count how many times Robb had me in tears.
Anyway, not only did the weather co-operate to give us a day full of sunshine and warmth on their wedding day, there may have never been a more relaxed bride and groom in the world than these two. As they put it, there was no need for nervousness when you’re as sure about one another as they are. Jess, Robb, the whole party and all their families were definitely troopers too – while the sunshine was fabulous, it did mean we found ourselves shooting the couple’s and the family group shots outside while it was hot, hot, hot. Not that you can tell with these two, who kept their cool no matter what was going on around them.
After the early evening ceremony, there were some pretty magically photogenic moments: as the light melted into the golden hour, I turned to notice the flower girls running around across the field Robb & Jess’s spiral seating arrangement, picking up flower petals and throwing them in the hair. It could not have been a more beautiful scene.
